Acceptable Use Policy

Use Scrapebit only for authorised and lawful data extraction from publicly accessible webpages. Do not use it to create marketing lists, collect contact data for unsolicited outreach, access restricted content, or evade website security controls.

Scrapebit, operated by DataOtto LLP, is a web data extraction and workflow automation platform. It converts publicly accessible web pages into structured CSV or JSON for research, analytics, price monitoring, catalogue analysis, and internal reporting. You operate the tool, you choose the pages, and you are responsible for the lawfulness of what you extract and how you use it.

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") forms part of our Terms of Service. It applies to every user, on every plan, including the free tool, the Chrome extension, the dashboard, and the API.

1. Prohibited Uses

You must not use Scrapebit to:

  • Create, sell, share, provide, rent, or enrich marketing, contact, or prospect lists of any kind.
  • Collect personal contact information — including names tied to email addresses, phone numbers, or messaging handles — for unsolicited outreach.
  • Facilitate spam, cold-email campaigns, cold calling, bulk messaging, or any other unsolicited outbound marketing.
  • Scrape personal profiles on social networks, professional networks, or any other platform for prospecting purposes.
  • Access private, restricted, paywalled, or login-protected content that you are not authorised to access, or share credentials to do so.
  • Bypass CAPTCHAs, web application firewalls (WAFs), rate limits, authentication, access controls, or any other website security mechanism.
  • Violate a website’s terms of service, robots directives, or contractual restrictions that apply to you.
  • Collect or process personal data in breach of privacy or data-protection laws, or without a lawful basis where one is required.
  • Extract special-category personal data (health, biometric, political, religious, sexual-orientation, or similar) about identifiable individuals.
  • Re-identify, profile, track, stalk, or harass individuals, or collect data about children.
  • Copy content in breach of copyright, database rights, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Place unreasonable load on a website, or use the service to assist a denial-of-service or other attack.
  • Resell or redistribute extracted personal data as a dataset or data product.

2. Intended Uses

Scrapebit is built for work such as:

  • Competitor and price monitoring across publicly accessible listings.
  • E-commerce catalogue, specification, and inventory analysis.
  • Market, product, and academic research.
  • Extracting public tables, indexes, and reference pages into CSV or JSON.
  • Content and trend research across public articles, forums, and release notes.
  • Authorised internal reporting and workflow automation on data your organisation is entitled to use.
  • Monitoring publicly accessible pages for changes that matter to your business.
  • Extracting data from your own websites and systems, or systems you have written permission to access.

3. Your Responsibilities

You decide which URLs to run and what to do with the output. Before you run an extraction you are responsible for confirming that you are permitted to access the page, that your use of the data complies with the site's terms and with applicable law, and that you have a lawful basis for any personal data involved. Scrapebit does not review, licence, or warrant the data you extract, and we do not supply, sell, or pre-package datasets about people.

4. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations of this AUP. Where we find a violation we may limit, suspend, or terminate the account immediately and without notice, remove stored results, refuse future service, and where the law requires it, report the matter to the relevant authority. Serious or repeated violations result in termination without refund of unused credits, as set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. Reporting a Violation

If you believe Scrapebit is being used in breach of this policy — including to collect data from a site you operate — contact us at ashwinsingh632@gmail.com with the details. We investigate every report we receive.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this AUP as the product and the law evolve. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of Scrapebit after a change means you accept the updated policy.
